It has been a very joyous learning experience here in Spain. We are approaching the last week of our mission trip and though it is sad for me to leave after making so many friends, I am glad I came. God has truly been a blessing here both for the church here and for me personally.

The youth here is excited about the Lord. Yes, it is hard to witness to the people of Spain, however it is not impossible for God. Having spent time with some of the active members of the church I have gotten a different perspective of the people and have learned that the fastest way to be able to share the word of God is to first be concerned about the person as an individual. People are more open minded than what I thought and are open to hear the gospel if it is coming from a friend.

With the economic crisis and loss of jobs, people are in need of hope. How better of an opportunity this is to be able to share to people that Jesus offers the hope that they seek. What have I done? I’ve just been trusting the Lord, and I have seen His hand move in the live of youth here. God is good. I pray for God-fearing leaders to be raised up and seize the moment of what has been said to be the beginning of a revival. If that is the case, “Here am I, Lord, send me.” Be praying for me, but more for the people here in Spain. God bless!

It is sad that we are in our final days here. The team is jelling together and really enjoying each ministry. Friday we had youth group at Kayon. the kids their love to worship and hear the word of God. We finished up at Fig Tree last week as well. the community truly noticed something different about the area. Saturday we were invited to go to the Mariot and swim. we had some amazing Mango BBQ chicken wings and Conche Fritters. That night was Awana and there was some new faces and quite a few of them. Sunday we had Church at the House. After church we went to the Childrens home to hang out and eat pizza. These kids were amazing. I will post some pics and video to our CCBCi FB page. Well keep praying and we will see you at the end of the week.

So, an update on what we’ve been doing. It’s been pretty crazy here, crazy awesome really! I’m having some of the most fun in my life practicing my Spanish with people.

Spain is highly relational. It’s all about getting to know people personally and living Christ out in their face as opposed to preaching Jesus in their face. It’s a fun thing and I’ve really enjoyed how easily and quickly Spaniards will sit and talk with you and get to know you. In the States, you don’t have a real conversation unless there’s time. In Spain, that’s what time is for. So much of our ministry has been just getting to know people and talking to and encouraging them!

Monday morning was Santificado, or young adults group (18+ singles)! Usually there are about ten that come. We had a great time worshiping together, eating, and getting in the Word with Jared teaching. He’s going through the book of Ephesians (shout-out to Wes)!

Sunday we got to meet the church! In the service, which was all Spanish, the Spanish-speakers sat next to us and translated. We played a worship song in English at the end, Jon on guitar and lead, Mel on keys and backup vocals, Danny on drums, and me in the crowd (since the bass spontaneously decided not to work the moment we started playing)! I think they really enjoyed it, I heard compliments!

For me, the best part of the day was lunch afterwards. I sat next to Mel’s dad, and we conversed the entire time in Spanish. My Spanish is terrible, if you didn’t know, but I was absolutely amazed to find out that I am actually conversational in it! I can hold legitimate conversations in Spanish. I can speak in and understand complete sentences. I’m having more fun talking in Spanish and getting to know people than anything else here by far! Thank you Mr. Widolff!

We’ve not been without practical service as well! We’ve been workin’ up the curb appeal and helping make the insides a little more friendly and a little less institutional.

The team has been hard at work clearing the campus of weeds and making it a nicer place to have church and go to the gym. The workout gym is a major part of the Stayton’s outreach, and they want to continue improving it as people come and they are able to build relationships.

“Cling to the Rock” devo was pretty much amazing. We climbed 90 feet up a cliff face with one of Jared’s friends from Sevilla, the same guy we visited the fair with. I’ve climbed man-made walls before, but I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun as when I climbed a real, God-made rock! The view from the top was cool, but I didn’t take my phone up to capture it :p The Stayton kids joined the climb and did really well! I think they’re going to be boss climbers.

So what I’ve been learning so far is several things (in no particular order): one, that I try to impress people too much and I need to give my reputation up to God. Two, I really like Spanish. Three, Jesus loves me and His grace is enough, I just need to trust and love Him and get close to Him and stop worrying about my failures. Funny how He repeats things! He is always faithful to remind me of His love and His ability. He loves me – that’s more important than anything else. As long as I’m focused on Him and His love, I will always have peace and joy, because that doesn’t change.

Be on the lookout, because we’re going to be posting some personal video testimonies of certain events and interactions here soon!

Well what a fun day Thursday was. Each year at the bible college we go on a wilderness trip. 5 days in the wilderness with little to no resources. It is mostly flat and pretty light hiking. Some of our group have never been on the wilderness trip. While others, well, have never been hiking at all. So what a better way to warm for the wilderness hike with a Volcano hike. So we set for Mount Liamuiga which is a dormant volcano here on the Island. The steepest peak of the volcano is 3,792 feet. We did not go that high. It is roughly a 6 mile round trip hike. we may have been around 2100 feet. anyways it was a good hike. For someone who has never hiked at all, it gave me a challenge but in the end, priceless. God’s creation was evident throughout the entire hike. The whole group made it up and down. So there you have it. I will let the pictures do the rest. Thanks for your continued prayers.

What an Island. God’s creation is alive and vibrant here in St. Kitts. The trip is going smoothly. Brandon and Wendy have been here for just over a year now. It is crazy cool to see what God has done on this Island with their relationships with the people here. They are showing us the ways here and they are much like ours back in the states. The biggest thing is time here. Everything runs very slow. The days feel longer and the heat in the afternoon run us down. God is our strength and has kept us well. Each ministry that has been placed on Brandon’s heart is a direct result of listening to the voice of God! Rich Day arrived yesterday and is adapting well to what the Isalnd has to offer. Hope you are all doing well and are blessed by the updates. See ya soon.

Well time got away from us just a bit. Sorry for that but i have some pics and notes you should like. Friday night we went to Kayon for youth group. If you are friends with us on Facebook we posted a video of the group singing with some still photos. What a great night of worship and seeing the kids heart for God. Saturday we spent the majority of the day at the Graysons painting and hanging the new screen doors. Braxton and Marcia were able to go on Dominion Radio, a local christian radio station here in St. Kitts. They did a great job speaking a bit on their personal relationship with the Lord. Later that evening we went and had the Sparks Awana night. Seeing these kids laugh and smile was great but one group did over 45 verses memorized! Praise the Lord. That is so cool. We led worship and group time. Keep this ministry in your prayers as it continues to grow and the kids continue to respond in faith. Today the Church of God here made us feel very welcome into their Church. It was a nice service as the electricity was shut off from 6 a.m. to about 2 in the afternoon. So we cam back and headed to the beach. What a nice trip/ So here are some pics. There will be more loaded on our facebook pages. Come see us and thanks for the continued prayers. We Love You!

What a day. Started out with a nice breakfast and then made lunch to take with us. We headed out to another part of the island. When we arrived we saw what we were about to do. It was hard at first and seemed daunting, but this team was amazing all day long. The heat here is very different as the sun beats directly down on you. One of the nicest things is that it started to rain during the project. Thank you Lord for that. It actually felt great. We had lunch and then went back out and tackled more weeds. God was good to us as He kept us hydrated and no one was injured. So for tonight it is a bit of a relaxing time as Brandon and Luke have basketball practice. We will walk down there and get our share of Ting the local drink here. May even get a card game in or two. So again thanks for the prayers.

Today please keep in prayer the heat for the team. exhaustion is setting in but we are faithful that God is watching over us.

Here are some pics from our service day.

Thanks again Brent
